  1. Coach Advertisement. Write an ad for the newspaper (or online newspaper) for a Coach. Pretend you are seeking to hire a new coach for your team (Send the winning entry to the Editor of the Sports Page.)
  2. Sports-Parent Advertisement. Write an ad for the "Ideal Sports-Parent." Run a contest among the Reading Circle. (Winning entries could be included in the school newsletter.)
  3. Design a new cover for Playing Time. (Winning entry is sent to local newspaper or laminated and sent to public or school library.)
  4. Research controversial articles on youth sports, specifically dealing with headlines on the bad behavior of parents and coaches. Write an essay,"When Adults Become Badly Behaved Children,"using the R-A-C-E-R strategy contained in Quinn's book, page 91-92.
  5. Draw a cartoon illustrating a passage in the book. Label with a caption or a Q22ism and the page number from Playing Time.
  6. Interview a coach. Develop a list of 5 questions.
